Hexagon Hooks

Add a graphic element to a space with this urban style minr Hexagon Hook set from Target! The perfect look is super inexpensive located at the DollarSpot of Target. I love mixing design styles, from mid-century to bohemian chic.

The hooks were a set of 4, with a copper hook in the middle. There were also others from white and gray as well, which looked so sleek and modern, but I ended up going for the mint green (You know I love me some soft mint).

I knew these hooks would be so functional in my home, but at the time of purchase, I didn’t know perfect spot for them just yet. Once I took them home and opened up the package, I looked around my home, and eyed my front door entry way.

As we’re currently renting at the time, I want to refrain from drilling many holes within the walls, especially the doors. In order to stick the hooks on a flat wall surface, I plan to use these wall Command Hooks (shown above), which are a perfect sticky adhesive for anything to hand on the wall. After much thought, I found the perfect spot for the hooks! My garage door at the front entry way!

In the top left photo of the collage, it shows a picture of my front door next to the garage door (with yellow wreath). This is the main entry where the family enter and exit within our household. Notice the usage of using the color yellow? Hehehe…From the wreath, to opening the garage door seeing our vintage locker.

Check out my past post about decorating with yellow. HERE.

Once I was ready to apply the hooks using the Common strips, be sure to follow the instructions thoroughly.

  1. Start with wiping down the surface with and hold rag, to remove any dirt, grease, oil, and dust.
  2. Apply your Command strips on your hook and firmly apply on surface.
  3. Wait 1 whole house before adding weight or hanging anything on the hooks.

Using these decorative hexagon hooks, are obviously intended for purpose. As we all have our busy lives, we all need as many container storage spots, surfaces and basket bins to get our lives organized. Hooks, are used to hang coats and jackets, and other clothing items. But as for me coming in and out the door constantly throughout the day, I love hanging our reusable shopping bags, busy bags, and also errand bands (things that don’t fit in my purse.)

Are you a family with constant movement in the household and strive off of an organized system, from storage lockers, hooks, basket bins, and a whiteboard schedule? That’s us!! Stay tuned as I continue to post more little home improvement posts, both that are decorative, and functional!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!! With family, friends, food, and gifts, the parties may be done for a couple days, until New Years Eve (tomorrow). You can also check out their website so see any items you’ve been eyeing out all Christmas season. I, on the other hand love the hunt, and checking whatever Target I roam into, and checking out their inventory. Or, whatever is left.

Ornaments, ornaments, ornaments…..

Remember those $3 ornaments?? What was $3 per ornament (which I DID hold myself back earlier this month,) are now all $1.50-$0.92-$0.30 EACH!!! Yes girl. YES!!! A whopping $1.50 or less for the cutest ornaments from Target!!

Halloween Haul

Yah girl is back on YouTube! I guess it’s the Gemini in me, but after working long and hard on my blog, I need another artistic and creative medium in sharing my content. I love love being expressive, and very impulsive as when I feel the need to create I do it, then there.

Having two different sides of my personality and you will never be sure with what you’ll get, so I guess that’s why I have two social media platforms to express myself. As at times I can be sociable, and communicative ready for fun white hitting the record button, I can ALSO be very serious with my content and indecisive on where to share it.

So after an afternoon having a DOUBLE Dirty Chai, I then, I remembered my YouTube!! Seriously folks, I go through deep waves of creative projects where I concentrate so hard on particular platform, and can’t maintain the rest of the social media branches.

Here, I’d like to share through VIDEO my Halloween CLEARANCE HAUL:

Budget shopping is certainly a way of life for me. If it’s a decorative home decor item in my home, it was without a doubt on sale when I purchased it.

Check out my latest Halloween Clearance Haul, as I share a few items from my two favorite shopping stores Target & WalMart!

cozyhome

I’ve noticed I don’t provide enough style ideas on my blog, so I want to start now! Here are a few Fall Decorating Ideas (Collected from Pinterest/HGTV/HouseBeautiful/ and some of my favorite YouTube Budget Stylists) The list below is my spin-off of interior styling to make it work on a budget, and not to break your wallet before the Holidays! Let’s get started:

  1. Swap In Seasonal Greenery
The branches pick up warm colors of the space. Go outside, and collect leaves with your kids, create a fun and cool fall leaf garland!
  2. Build Up The Fire
A fireplace, is def a focal point to any room. Warm it up at night, with throw blankets & lots and lots of piled on pillows
  3. Add A Cozy Throw
Throw blankets are a massive MUST HAVE during the fall season. Check out your local Ross/Marshall’s/TJMaxx for discounted and awesome cozy throws!
  4. Hang A Wreath
HomeGoods or DIY!!!!!! That wreath already starts at the door, letting anyone know walking by, you’re ready for fall!!
  5. Style Your Porch
Restyle your outdoor space. Out with the summer patio look, and in with the “mountain range/Tahoe retreat.” Check out Craigslist for patio furniture local neighbors are getting rig of. Or KMart/WalMart to Target — Check out their summer clearance, and restyle main pieces of patio furniture adding in warm weathered textures, and prints!
  6. Tablescape
Your dinning room should have that statement piece. My current dinning table has wooden candlestick holders (Threshold Target Brand) purchased from Goodwill! Style them with a long table runner, warm candles, and some pumpkins!
  7. Attention Nook
Aside from your dinning area, don’t forget to add the cozy love to your breakfast nook. Fall is about gathering together. Be sure to give additional table scape details to that breakfast nook. From Placemats, to autumn neutral florals (From Trader Joes) in a thrifted vase!
  8. Bath Mat
Most people wouldn’t think about redecorating the bathrooms. But I do!! From the bath mat, towels, to the decorative pieces to use in the powder room. Continue on the look of fall ALL throughout the your home!
  9. Layer LOTS of Rugs
Too many carpets? There’s no such thing. It’s an open invitation to put your feet up.
  10. Reading Corner
Fall is the time I read the most books! Designate an area for quite reading. Curl up with a glass of wine and you won’t miss the warm weather quite so much.
  11. Let There Be Light
Plug in some extra lamps!! This is something new I’ve been learning. With the shorter days, you’ll want to add brighter lighting to your favorite spaces. Nothing better than that soft glow sprinkled around your living space.
  12. Rethink The Dining Room
For a more relaxed feel, add pillows to stiff-backed chairs. I’ve purchased 2 chairs from the Goodwill Outlet for ($12 for the pair!) After repainting them,my DIY mind, wants to repaint them just for the cold season! (Possibly a splash of plum or a dark peacock green jade.)

Spooktacular Reads

October birthday’s are so fun to shop for! Especially when it’s for little young monsters! Check out the books I purchased recommended by Amazon’s Best Sellers! They’re perfect for little ones to early readers! As a parent of two, when it comes to my boys receiving gifts, books from friends and family are the best gifts to receive. Anything educational focused, and activity based! And they don’t take up so much room in the house! Books are one of the best things I believe a child can receive as a gift!

Buying a few books can range from $15-$25, a perfect target price for a decent gift for a little one! Beat the toys, the large gizmo play sets with a million pieces for parents to assemble, and go towards the wonderful route of picture books, early readers, or children’s novels! To add that fall festive look, I purchase black and orange burlap rolls  and ribbon for a dollar at Target (Found at the Dollar Spot!) DIY Berry Basket Gift

Shortly after my birthday, the school year ends along with little league season. After 20+ games, and practices, the teams usually have their end of season party. During this time the players receive their awards, and coaches and team parents say their thank you’s to everyone who were involved. This season, I was able to hit it off with my older son’s team mom Staci. A Hawaii native, and currently a stay-at-home mom just like me, with two boys, we were able to totally hit if off from the start!

It’s was such a pleasure to tag-team with her as she and I did the creative aspect for our little league team. From setting up really early for Spirit day, making Easter treats, and little goody bags for the players, I love giving and creating cutesy quaint gifts for the players to enjoy! Really, it was a joy to make them, and also a joy to know that you all loved them!

She was such an awesome team mom, I just want to thank her for an awesome season! Seriously, she was ne of the best, most organized Team Mom’s e v e r. Especially handing it all with her 2 year old at your hip (At every game, and every practice!) Her structured order, systemized ways, were obviously effective and well received with the players, coaches, as well the parents. She definitely make it look like nothing! Purely effortless!! As a mom, she’s inspired me to become more involved in my children’s extra curricular activities! I hope in the near future I can step out of my comfort zone to become a team mom just like her!!!

This can also be applied to a Class Mom, staff volunteer, Office gift, or Teacher gift!

BerryBasket

Directions For Prepping Your Berry Basket:

1.) Fill your berry basket with the decorative shred. (I personally love paper shred. It’s the perfect filler for any gift basket, and is every easy to style with.)

2.) Place your gift items inside, with larger (taller) items set in the back. Style from back to front.

Example: I placed the tissue and KIND bar towards the back, and placed my anti-bacterial, lip balm, and smaller gifts towards the front.

3.) With your Chalkboard garden sign, write the names of the special people you will be presenting these gifts to.

There were multiple moms that helped contribute to the baseball season for my son’s Minor B team. From score keeper, dugout mom, and team mom, all these ladies do it for their children. They not only care for their own children, but for the rest of the boys on the team.

ChalkSign

So, I had these chalk pens for awhile, which I purchased for a wedding last March. They were a set of 4, with white, pink, orange, and purple. It was such a coincidence that those colors besides the white perfectly tied in with the berry basket gift idea. Don’t you love happy little accidents?!?! (It’s like finding cash in your clothes!! A total art supply SCORE!)

Now, I’m a perfectionist. And I am no professional wedding calligrapher, but I did attend art school for a bit and know my way around photoshop and have many resources for many, many, many fonts.  So, writing the font for the chalksign was quite easy for me to duplicate. Nowadays, I’ve seen many creatives going into the calligraphy category of the wedding and event styling industry. Pretty cool. But definitely not for me. I’ve done multiple chalkboard signs for weddings, and events, but I’d never consider doing invites. Hell no. I have better things to do…And I’m not looking to get carpal tunnel, or tendonitis in my wrist. HA!

Have you worked with berry baskets before? I’ve seen them so many times, but never really thought of styling with them, or had the need. Using them as team mom gifts, was the perfect opportunity for me to used them! Now, I might just buy me a porcelain berry basket!!! (I smell a impulse buy coming up!!)

Oh Joy To The Rescue!!

You guys, I seriously squealed like a little girl when I saw the OhJoy striped first aid bag for the first time.  After viewing through my news feed in Insta, it was literally fell in love at first sight, and took my butt straight to my local Target!

OhJoyYou can find these ridiculously cute first aid bags at the end caps of the healthcare isle of your Target. When I went today, they had a sale for it being $5.99 (Original price at $6.99). Also, if you purchase 3 select health care items, you get a First Aid Kit FREE!! I’m thinking of heading back and buying 3 more bags, just for each car, and also for in the house!

OhJoyStripedBag

Oh Joy Striped First Aid Bag

OhJoyIG

Oh Joy! also has a line of Band-Aids for Target. The Target I went it didn’t have them, but did have some very cute Target Up&Up brand-aids (See in above). Oh Joy To The Rescue is the new collaboration, of the newst products with BAND-AID, and also Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies. These lovable, sweet, pretty, attractive band-aids, just add a cute adorable touch to help heal and cover up those cuts and scrapes.

OhJoyToTheRescue

Now, with a family filled with boys they would have no appreciation for OhJoy products or design of such. I mean, look at them. Pastel colors, fun festive design patterns. No gratitude or thanks from my boys. BUT! That doesn’t mean I cannot store and provide simple standard bandaids, or Avengers band-aids in my little first aid kit. With well active boys, being in baseball, basketball, other sports, and just being boys, boo boos happen. So being a well equipped mommy ready for those future ouchies – I’m ready to help heal.

Have you purchased your OhJoy to the rescue products yet?! If not, you better hop on it!!!! I sure will again later this week!!

Target Haul (Under $10)

As a stay at home there have been many mornings where I drop off my son to school and drive straight to Target. At times my spending is very controlled, were I just stick with whatever is on the grocery list. Other times, I head straight to the Women’s Clearance racks and dig for clothes I really don’t need. Today was one of those Target days, but on a budget. I was killing time before an appointment I had with my sons Orthodontist. So of course, Target was fitting.

With nothing on my grocery list, I was able to control my spending. I mean, I just went crazy bridesmaid shopping for hotel decor and all, so sticking to a nice moderate budget helped me stay in control of my spending. I walked around Target, avoiding the women’s clothing, handbags, jewelry, makeup and stationary. Those places are definite danger zones for a Target shopper who is wandering.

I found myself at the kids clearance racks. I came across this wonderful textured-rib baseball pullover sweater for my youngest son. It’s still cold here in the Bay Area early mornings, and evenings so having this sweater would be great for him. I love the stitching and color-blocking. Greens and blues are my favorite colors for my boys! Not only that, but the price of this sweater cannot be beat! $2.50!!

4T Sweater

While I continued to walk around Target, avoiding the danger zones, I stepped into the Kitchen/Utensil asile. With getting something for my son, I felt like I needed something small for my other son. I came across these $0.75 Circo kid flatware set. Looking into my shopping cart I stayed within my favorite color duos that I oh-so-love for my boys. Blue and green..

Circo FlatwareMy kids are definitely at the age of handing their own utensils. When I was kid, I was taught the “scoop and push,” using the the spoon on my right, and fort on my left. Its Filipino basic dining etiquetteI’ve also seen this dining custom in Thailand. So I’m assuming is probably dining  etiquette is some parts of South East Asia.

Currently my kids just eat mainly with a fork, spoon for soup or cereal, and chop-sticks for Japanese/Vietnamese dishes. I’m surprised with myself that I haven’t gotten around to teaching them my native dining etiquette. So stumbling amongst the Circo flatware set was a must. And for $0.75 a set! I went along and purchased small bowls and a cup for each boy too!

Target SetAfter I grabbed coincidental blue green inspired flatware and matching sweater, I headed towards checkout.

Here’s the total:

Flatware Set ($0.75 Each/ 2 Sets): $1.50

Cups ($0.75 Each/ 2 Sets): $1.50

Small Bowl ($0.75 Each/ 2 Sets): $1.50

Medium Bowl ($0.75 Each/ 2 Sets): $1.50

4T Textured-Rib Pullover Sweater: $2.50

(Minus 5% Target Redcard)

_____________

$8.50

Not bad for some morning Target shopping.
