At Home Date Nights

It’s February the month of love. This year, our time is quite limited due to our work, but also interest. We love staying home. Usually, around this time of year, I’d have some cute craft for you lined up for the blog, but my intentions with my blog is headed to a different direction with intention with highlighting family life, and daily lifestyle. As I’ve evolved into a working mom, my time isn’t as flexible doing crafts (although I do miss, the occasional colored craft paper, and handprint paint). However, my time now prioritized through making high quality memories with my family. Let’s start with how I’ll be spending Valentine’s Day with my husband this week.

Both my husband and myself are introverts. We love our home. We love staying home. And will choose over mostly anything to stay home. That’s why we invest in our home to make the most comfortable base for us as a family. Investing in comfortable couches, having just the right amount of throw pillows, and the coziest throw blankets ever. Everything down to what we eat off of. Our plates and dishes cultivate the right amount of love and high end experience to living. Eating from nice decorative dishes (Majority thrifted btw!) all create peace, harmony, love and intention. We love it. And that’s all that matters.

We love our home, we love staying home… All because we’ve created it for us.

This Valentine’s Dinner, will consist of staying home. Obviously, being on a work/school night, we’ll be avoiding the crowds, and Hallmark marketed day, staying in our humble abode, and preparing a nice warm meal candle light and wine added.

Usually, on weekends the husband and I enjoy a cheeseboard either in the late afternoons before dinner, or later the evening when the children are down, and we want to watching a Netflix comedy special or two..

Above is a spread we’ve been loving for quite some time. The cheese board includes:

  • Pears
  • Red Seedless Grapes
  • Dried Apricots
  • Almonds
  • Italian Dry Salami
  • Rosemary/Olive Oil Flavored Crackers
  • Cheese: Brie

When it comes to dinner, this is a typical dinner we usually do on weekdays. Chicken has been our go to meat in our household. Anything from chicken thighs (boneless & bone in), or chicken tenders. We refrain from going Chicken Breast, because in all honesty, it is way too d r y.

We prepare our chicken thigh (in this case, above shown picture is bone in chicken thigh.) And we’ll just season it up, and bake it on a baking tray for 45-50mins at 390. Then broil for 3mins at the end, for that extra crispy skin.

Salads are the perfect pair to every meal in our kitchen. There is no way, in an entire day we don’t go a day without eating vegetables. It’s all about how you flavor it up! It’s not always about the dressing. My husband loves sliced Golden Greek Peperoncinis sprinkled in our salads, It adds a little crunch, as well as a zing to every bite. In addition we chop of tomatoes, radish, flavor bomb red onions, and also add some crumbles of feta cheese.

Home made.

It’s been a really really long time since the last time I’ve purchased a salad dressing from the grocery store. Thanks to my sister-in-law who currently live’s in Paris, France, she’s taught us a few recipes on easy go to salad dressings with everyday ingredients you already have.

  • Olive Oil
  • Balsamic Vinaigrette
  • Chopped Garlic
  • Basil
  • And a secret his secret ingredient. Which he doesn’t want me to share. LMAO.

Staying in at home isn’t just all about saving money. But also who the individuals are. My husband and I have no problem skipping out on the holiday and creating a special dinner on our own, at home. Being able to be in our own kitchen preparing a meal for ourselves creates a more intimate and delightful evening between us two.

Are you and your special someone just like me and my husband? Do you love staying in? Avoiding the crowds? And invest in your home? Comment below! I’d love to read your “stay-at-home” Valentine’S Day Date ideas!

Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time on self-improvement basically so I can be more like you. You’re really good at living life. I’ve watched you grow since we were 15 years old, and every obstacle, milestone, and curveball life has struck towards you, you’ve managed to overcome it. You’re really good at living life that just isn’t vacationing, and spending money on the coolest electronics. You’re good at living the daily grind. The fixed routine, a custom lifestyle – and for that I’m grateful.

My 8 year old, and first born. A spitting image of his dad. I see so much of me in you, but more of daddy.  I encourage you to work hard, make mistakes, and then achieve success. I am the lucky one who watched you persevere to crawl, walk, read, and make friends. You are so naturally athletic. You come for challenge, and can make a game out of anything. You make me grateful for life, and look at it as fun playground.

My little boyfriend. He just turned 5. I love him more than life. Someday Tristan, you will become a very lucky girls Prince Charming. As much as I want that girl to be perfect for you, I want you to be prepared for her. Just know that I Iove you now, forever and always. And know that someday I will love her too.

Happy Thanksgiving to you my fellow readers. I am thankful for you. I create content in a reflection of parts of my life and interests, can inspire. From the stay at home mom, a woman looking to get healthy and happy, or maybe a mother looking for her creative outlet. I made this blog in no way to proclaim a Pinterest perfect life. That’s not what I have, nor claim to be about.

Tiffany’s Tidings is an outlet for me, to be on the internet, besides platforms like IG, SnapFish, Twitter, and Facebook. It all boils down to being real, and happy. No filters, no special effects, no collaborations to make myself better.

This is me, and my family I am thankful for. My number #1 subscribers.

Stay tuned for my Thanksgiving runs recap!! I have my first Half Marathon Saturday!!

Stay tuned!

Make a meaningful difference in this world every day. And we can do so in small ways. A few weeks ago, Rachel Hollis from the The Chic Site posted her normal Facebook #RachTalk video on September 26th. She shared a feasible and powerful compassionate way we can help the refugees in Greece.  #ChicShowsUp is a 2 week clothing drive until Oct 3rd by The Chic Site to help support those who are in need in Greece.

RachTalk Episode 11! #RachTalk Asking for your help with a big Chic project!

Posted by The Chic Site on Monday, September 21, 2015

I struggled to complete a blog post in documenting my #ChicShowsUp effect, and realized that I was simply trying to say too much and so instead I created a short video on my actions.

This was a really fun video to make! When I posted it, I immediately tweeted Rachel to share my video. Surprisingly, she tweeted back!!! I was not expecting that what so ever!!!

Be sure to follow Rachel Hollis on Twtter! @msrachelhollis

And can I add, not only did Rachel tweet me in thanks, but also shared the video on her Facebook Page?!?!?!?! (Squeals!!!) Yes! I was only making a video, because I wanted to make a positive impact and show how easy and simple it is to help donate and participate in a simple clothing drive. How cool! How cool!! How cool is Rachel?!?! Here I am, small town mom blogger/Youtuber, getting support from a really cool inspiring woman! This definitely made my day going into the weekend!!!!

Rachel from The Chic Site, is such an inspiration to me. Her, and many other creative online mom’s alike have inspired me to become open online, and to become a lot more encouraging, inspiring, and motivational. I hope I can share my story, and insight to other moms out there. I really believe that the online community is where it is, if you’re a stay-at-home mom, or working working mom, I hope you can identify with an online group or special village such as I did. Read more on my journey in searching happiness HERE.

Also, I’m kind’ve on YouTube now! It’s something I’m working on in complimentary to my blog! As I mentioned earlier, when blogging I sometimes struggle to complete a blog post, and realize that I was simply trying to say too much and so instead I create videos on my actions. Cool right? It’s really fun! A lot of work, and time, but really fun!! That’s the most important thing. If you’ve watch some of my videos, (especially the first ones) please be patient! I’m definitely new at this, and working with the equipment I have. I’m making it work, and improving as I go! Super excited for whats upcoming next!! I promise it’ll get better! I’m only looking up, and leveling up! Happy Friday ya’ll!!!

Love Your Home Challenge

I love our home. I love how we’re located in a cute quaint quite cul-de-sac right off the main street and we can hear the sirens of the paramedics going up and down giving us a city feel. I love how we have a large tree in front of our home to give us cool shade all throughout the day. I love our front porch that holds our Craigslist rocking chairs, and found off the curb Pottery Barn Kids picnic table. And I love how we’re exactly a mile away from sons school.

I love our home. To be able to have a roof over our head, I feel very blessed. And yet, sometimes I struggle with taking my blessings for granted! For me, I am so fortunate to have a safe and warm place to not only raise my family, but to nurture my family. We are blesses even further to have a space to decorate and enjoy, and to have land for our boys to roam and play.

We are blessed. This I know.

But I’m only human….And sometimes I want more. I would be lying if I told you I never wished for more funds to decorate or renovate or improve.

Truth is, I’m a little unsatisfied.

Thankfully, I don’t have to settle with the cards I was dealt with, dealing with my dissatisfactions or disappointments.

Right now, you could be asking, what in the heck could you hate or be dissatisfied with your home Tiffany? Honestly, I’m really unhappy with my backyard. This has be a neglected area for quite some time. I never really knew how to take care of if, besides a good old fashioned daily raking of the leaves. BUT! I told myself (with a go-getter attitude) I can own up to the challenge of sprucing up the backyard with what little budget, and things I can make on my own.

Focused Area: Backyard

Problem Area: Backyard Wall

So, this summer – in the fabulous month of July, I’ve made it my project to bring the love, energy, attention and focus to my backyard. I’m going to give myself the Love Your Home Challenge. Just like any trending home decor challenge given over the internet, these challenges are usually given as a focus and commitment to a certain task. Very similar to the Zero Dollar Decorating, and $5 GoodWill Challenge.

I really look forward to tacking this backyard challenge this summer, as I intend to trim, tidy, declutter, and upgrade our current backyard living area, into a whimsical simple garden terrace with play area. I can’t wait!! Here’s what I’m working with so far…..

Pallets, succulents, and Craigslist!

Also, follow me on Twitter for hour by hour updates on what I’m up too!
