Dollar Valentine Buys

It’s exactly a week before Valentine’s Day! For some of us, we love to decorate our homes with festive things, garlands, flower arrangements, and diy crafts. The Pinterest loving flow of crafts for this special love filled day oozes with pink and purple delight! To me, its all more for the kids and teachers. I celebrate Valentine’s day along with the kids, but don’t really go all out within my home.

When it comes down to gifts, treats, and v-day cards, I like to take a step back from buying an already assembled gifts for your child’s teacher. I mean, I still feel like I’m recovering from the holiday expenses!!! On top of it all is the kids valentine’s day cards, and sometimes the class likes to celebrate and have a party towards the end of the school day….And that does get expensive. However, when you can’t really justify spending more than $20 for v-day things, I’d definitely go out of my way to check out the DollarTree or 99Cent Only stores for supplies I can purchase for the occasion.

DollarTree (above picture)

Between the two dollar stores, DollarTree holds a special place in my heart. I’ve gone countless times to DollarTree over and over again to get certain staples for my kitchen, as well as snacks, and food supplies. When it comes down to festive holiday accessories, the DollarTree never ever disappoints. From gift bags, tissue paper, and knick-nacks for crafts, or gift basket fillers; the DollarTree can supply is all.

Valentine’s Dollar Steals!

Here’s a few items I’ve purchased for this upcoming cupids holiday!!

Valentine Greeting Cards

**Save a ton with these Dollar buy greeting cards. When it comes down to gift giving, with the card included, save some money, with purchasing cards from the DollarTree!! Sometimes, cards can cost $0.49! That totally beats a Target card at $4.98!!**

Chocolate Hearts (Crispy & Milk Chocolate)

Red Ribbon Bows (Includes 2 bows)

Red Paper Stuffing

Red Glitter Chinese Gift Boxes (Pack of 2)

99 Cent Only Stores

I’ve always been familiar with the 99Cent Store, but there was never really one in my area to go to on a daily. The times I did check it out, I was super surprised with the brand named items I found from snacks, cleaning supplies, and holiday items.

Last week I was able to drop by my local 99Cent Store, and was pleased to see all the Valentine’s delight. From balloons, necklaces, mugs, and bakeware cup liners, and toppers. I didn’t really shop much, for I didn’t have any projects in mind just yet………But once I came home, gathered some inspo from Pinterest, I think I’m ready for another visit, for a few supplies.

What are your favorite V-DAY items to purchase at the DollarTree or 99Cent Store?? Have you already created a diy or gift basket for a special someone?! Comment below! I may need more inspiration from you readers!!

TV Dad Crush & Gadgets

“I’m cool dad, that’ my thang. I’m hip, I surf the web, I text.

LOL: Laugh out loud.

OMG: Oh My God,

WTF: Why the face.”

-Phil Dunphy, Modern Family

Ty Burrell

I have a huge huge huge celebrity crush on actor Ty Burrell. From seeing him in Modern Family, constantly on tv. Rerun after rerun, I laugh at his character Phil Dunphy during the 20min show, but still crush over him after the show has ended. It’s quite known amongst my own hubby and my friends I tend to crush real hard on male celebrities, of my current favorite show, or obsessed movie. Example…When Glee was around, I had a major crush on Darren Criss, at the time played Blaine Anderson. I also have a major crush on Robert Downey Jr. That crush tends to be a favorite of mine. Kind’ve like the George Clooney to the older generation.

All these guys all have something similar. Dark hair, intense facial assets, being witty and charming. I swoon over all of it. I would melt in their arms if I ever ran into any of these Hollywood celebs. In celebration of Father’s Day, I’d like to honor this post to the cool hip dads out there, with also some cool Father’s Day Gift items these cool hip dads would possibly like. be sure to check out my other Father’s Day Gift inspiration post linked below!!

Santa Mail From God Mother

2015 was a year of welcoming new family, saying goodbye to loved ones, joining families, and welcoming new members to the family. This past year I was selected as a God Mother to multiple couples in my life. My cousin & his wife selected me to be the God Mother for their daughter welcomed in April, and my closest friend and God Sister of my own, and chosen me to be a God Mother of her son, born in May. I’ve never felt to loved in a way to have such responsibility to have a special role in another child’s life (other than my own children). In Bible definition, it’s about helping a child to come to know God, and encouraging them in their spiritual life and supporting them in their membership of the local church.
Now, I don’t want to get all religious, nor do I have any fire power to throw down the facts of what to do, or what not to do, or what to believe in. To be honest, I believe faith and religion is a personal thing. You choose what you want to believe in, and as an adult, I’m in this hybrid area of, believing a lot of things, and not just committed to one religion. Ok. So……How do I play an active role of being a God Mother without stepping too much into faith?

I send them gifts of love, meaning, and joy.

I spend time with them and their families.

During the holiday season it is definitely a time of giving. But what people don’t have enough time to give? Friends and family expect quality time spent with one another, but when one extended family wants you here, and the other extended family wants you there (the same day), you feel a little overworked, and the sense of love and quality time is lost. This year, l’ve expressed my love to my selected God Children. I was blessed to be selected as their God Mother, but as a mother myself, with busy, crazy, holiday schedules, it’s nearly impossible to take my God Son to the near by Christmas Light parade, or hold my God Daughter’s had at Church during a winter mass.

I’ve created a Special Delivery Santa package perfect for my God Children. It expressed the love I have for them, although I am away, and do want to spend time with them. It carries special keepsakes, and sentiments of the last year, to be forever cherished and displayed on their family Christmas tree forever and as a tradition I plan to continue this joyous action of giving with my little God Children.

October birthday’s are so fun to shop for! Especially when it’s for little young monsters! Check out the books I purchased recommended by Amazon’s Best Sellers! Anything educational focused, and activity based! And they don’t take up so much room in the house! Books are one of the best things I believe a child can receive as a gift!

Buying a few books can range from $15-$25, a perfect target price for a decent gift for a little one! Beat the toys, the large gizmo play sets with a million pieces for parents to assemble, and go towards the wonderful route of picture books, early readers, or children’s novels! Trust me, the parents will be happy, as well as the child!

Festive Fall Gift Wrap

Something I have all the time, along with chalk pens, chalk tags, and twine! These are staples I love to keep in  my personal craft supply kit. To add that fall festive look, I purchase black and orange burlap rolls  and ribbon for a dollar at Target (Found at the Dollar Spot!) These little convenient rolls of burlap can be used now from October and November! If you love gifting fun holiday gifts to friends and family, or even to co-workers, and your child’s teacher, these decorative gift wrapping essentials are a hit, that are budget friendly!

Father’s Day Gift Ideas Ft. The Strap Smith

Father's Day Gift Ideas
Father’s Day is right around the corner. If you’re like me and had intentions of making something for daddy, but fell short due to work, and a busy schedule; you’ll definitely find some nice inspiration here. The last couple of Father’s Day’s I’ve created gift baskets, bbq themed, cooking themed, and random basketball baller gift combos. One action of kindness that will make your gift giving a lot easier is sticking to a theme of the gift, color trend, electronics, or just his interest. If you’re gift giving for your husband or own dad, keep in mind of what he’s into.
Above is a general idea of what I believe an active/ traveling type of guy would possibly appreciate. Out of all the items gathered, I believe you can’t go wrong with the apple watch.

Going Above And Beyond

Now, of course not everyone has $300-$400 dollars to easily spend. But here’s one thing I’d like to share –If you do have and extra $300-$500 willing to spend on Father’s Day is a fine and dandy idea. Purchase the most standard apple watch, if they already own an apple watch (EVEN BETTER!) Check out The Strap Smith. After being featured on one of my favorites YouTube vloggers vlogs, I couldn’t get this vendor off my mind!!! It’s purely genius to have a custom strap to an apple watch.
Apple Watch: $300-$1,700
The Strap Smith: $180-$200
(Louis Vuitton/Gucci Straps)
DISCLAIMER: I do not have $700 easily to spend to do this, but if I did, I would go this route.
Here are my true feelings on the apple watch.

Maybe next Father’s Day. But realistically, I may just order THIS.

Simple Hydrangea Grapevine Wreath

Many of my friends and family have become huge fans of my custom wreaths. I’m so happy to see the reaction of my family members when they see their wreaths. Here’s another wreath I had made for Derrick’s mom, for Mother’s Day. Her style is more simple, and loves the lavender purple hues in her home. Although the shade of purple can be overpowering, this custom wreath shows how to use touches of the color through accent flowers.

Here’s what you’ll need for this wreath:

-Grapevine Wreath

-Faux Flowers

Check out my latest DIY  burlap wreath I made for my mom here.

Grapevine Wreath

The steps are just the same from my previous wreath tutorial, except eliminating the burlap/deco mesh step. Not everyones style can handle the full brave burlap puffs over their wreath, so terminating that option creates a much more simpler earthy grapevine wreath.

Secure your flowers with zipties, fastening them directly to the wreath. Arrange them in a free loose position, vs gathered tightly and bunched. This will create a nice organic look to the decorative wreath.

The classic silhouette of a natural grapevine wreath accessorized with flowers on one side adds a modern element to the wreath. Once all the floral pieces are secured and in place, add in your gift tag, or card you partnered the wreath with. Since it’s a decorative outdoor piece, I see no need to place it into a gift bag or adding a gift bow.

So, that’s it! Here’s a simple hydrangea grapevine wreath, for the simple home decorator. Along with this gift, I added in a door hook to the wreath, which adds in no stress to her!!  It’s basically a gift thats ready to be displayed! What are you favorite home decor go-to gifts? Comment!!

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother's Day Gift Guide
May is finally here and so is the hot weather!! With Spring now inching closer to Summer, the first of the holidays celebrated in May is Mother’s Day! I personally love Mother’s Day, because in my household it means I get the “mental free/mommy-duty-free,” type of day. When the boys were younger, it would be a day were I change absolutely no diapers, and filling up sippy cups as well as cleaning bottles. Now, that the boys are self-efficient, I get a personal day to myself. Usually, we celebrate it with a morning Mother’s Day brunch, which I truly enjoy. This year, I just want to enjoy a Mother’s Day with no plans. Possibly some alone time cleaning out the garage, or in the backyard focusing on my patio project. For us mother’s out there, what are your favorite things to do on Mother’s Day? I’m pretty sure it changes every year, as the kids grow older. I could definitely see myself just wanting a Spa Day, but during the time the kids a young, and actually want to hang out with me, I really want to take advantage of that.Above I created an inspiration board of a Mother’s Day Gift Guide. This off the bat, is a reflection of my personal taste, but I’m sure there are a few viewers who have the same taste and style as I do (I mean, you are reading this blog for a reason aren’t you?) Hehe. Here are a few of my favorites I’m sure mommies would enjoy receiving on Mum’s Day:

#1 NoteBook Journal
What mommy does not write their thoughts and plans on paper? Not everything is documented digitally. Pen & paper is a classic style which I believe will never die.

#2 Coffee Mug
But first coffee. Start the morning with a new cute coffee mug! Checkout some of the amazing coffee mugs on Etsy!

#3 Everyday Make-Up (BB Creme & Lip Balm)
If I were to only have $10 in my pocket to get daily essential makeup from a drug store it would be my favorite BB Cream & lip balm.

#4 iPhone Case
From $35 iPhone cases on Etsy or the AT&T store, for $7 at Marshalls. My favorite cases have always been purchased at my go to discount retailers.

#5 Nordstrom Gift Card
Ummmm…Why not? They have fantastic brands, and an awesome return policy!

Have a Happy Mother’s Day! And Happy 1st Day of May!!
(Uncle Manny!! Wooooo!)

Quirky Kitchen Haul

Over the holiday season Derrick gave me a box of Quirky products. One of the most absolute favorited gifts he’s ever given me. It was a box with assorted kitchen/home office devices and do-dads. Quirky products are invented and influenced by real people like you! They submit an idea, get involved and soon enough your product is created and ready to be sold world wide!

Quirky makes products invented and influenced by real people like you. Submit an idea, get involved, and soon enough ready for people to shop it! Since his Quirky, I’ve been a huge fan of the brand! I see it everywhere from novelty stores, to HomeGoods/Marshall’s.  My latest Quirky purchase was this Cubo cutting board, with prep storage from Marshalls.

Quirky Cubo

Bamboo, plastic (food safe)

10.9” L x 10.9” W x 1.75” H (276.9mm x 276.9mm x 44.5mm)

With a bamboo cutting surface, and compact to space save, it wasn’t hard to say no this product. Definitely a one stop chop cutting board, easy for me to slide into a container, and store leftovers! The first thing I thought when I saw this product, was “That would be great for camping!!!!!” Not only that, imagine how functional it would be for tailgating, or, if you’re like me a mom on the go, meal prep in the car!

(Left to right, Vine Stop, Stem Metal & CitriTwist, and Portion)

Here are some more Quirky kitchen items I have. To the left is the Vine Stop. A stabilizing wine bottle stopper, that allows you to store your open bottles horizontally. Inserting the Vine Stop into any uncorked bottle to add an anchor that’ll keep the container in place. To the right of the Vine Stop is the Stem Metal & CitriTwist. It features a classic citrus spritzer, that extracts every last drop of juice without making a mess. The last product is our household favorite!!! Portion measuring spoons, is a set of two nylon food safe material when cooking. You use measuring spoons to dole out your ingredients, then another spoon to stir them all up. Portion spoons allow you to measure, mix, and serve with the same utensil, then hang from a hook, reducing kitchen drawer clutter.

Seriously, aren’t these products fabulous? Cooking frequently, and always being in the kitchen these tools make being the kitchen a lot more of a happier place! Bravo to the inventors of these products!!!! Bravo!!!

Do you have any favorite Quirky products? Which is your favorite?! Comment below!
