Cheap Craft! Clothespin Memo Board

Finding ways to get organized in an aesthetically pleasing way is always a continuous theme in my household. With millions of things running through my mind, I did daily reminders, multiple alarms clocks, dozens of post-it notes, and so much more. Leaving out the door for many of us, we usually have so many thoughts running through our mind. How do we slow it down?

For one thing, I need reminders. Daily affirmations of positive motivation always coming in. As I step my way out of the door, I’m usually in the entry way/garage door entry of my home. I’ve decided to add (yet another) memo board right there, for my eye to catch a quick glimpse of before I leave. In this post, I’ll be sharing one of the EASIEST most affordable memo racks E V E R. Simple. Decorative, aesthetically pleasing, and most importantly, affordable.

What You’ll Need:

  • Wooden Rack – I purchased mine at my local Daiso Japan, for $1.50.
For those, who don’t have a Japanese Dollar Store, check out the 99Cent Store/DollarTree, WalMart or just your local craft store!
  • Clothespin Hooks – Again, I purchased mine at Daiso Japan as well, for $1.50
  • Command Strips
These damage free command strips are my most favorite item to have around the household! You can buy them anywhere from Target/WalMart. | CLICK HERE

Directions:

  1. Take your wooden memo board, and apply the Command strip on each corner of your board.
  2. Apply pressure to desired surface. I chose the back of my garage door adjacent to my front door entry.
  3. Once stuck to the door, hand your clothespin hooks to memo board.

And VIOLA! That’s it friends! From here, the fun decorating begins…

Memo Board Decor Ideas:

Since the memo board is just a place to hang notes grocery lists, and other very light weight items, I’ve stuck with a color scheme of just green. Green is my favorite color, and by chance* happened to be everything I’ve grabbed to fill this memo board.

  • Personal Photos
I’ve added photos to the board to make it personal for the family, not just another “mommy’s project,” around the house. The husband and kids appreciate it. Personalize your home, to all of those who live in the home. Not just you. There’s nothing better than seeing pictures of your loved ones before leaving the home. The photos I hung, where a sweet gift from friends given to me a few Christmas’s ago. Printed from my Instagram. You can check out other sites such as: Social Print Studio, Printiki, and Shutterfly to do the same!
  • Motivational Quotes
I had purchased this flag ornament from Target 2 years ago, and had it on my front door knob for the longest time. I simply took it, and relocated it to the memo board.
  • Faux Greenery
I’m a fan of faux succulents/Airplants. Yes. I’ve said it. Adding greens add more life to the home. Ideally, real and living…BUT this small little succulent wreath was a little project I did over the summer for some ready to go gifts. (Stay tuned for tutorial!)
  • Art
Lately, I’ve been into bullet journalling, so my creative doodles, have been really on point lately. Below in the photo was a doodle I did of succulent terrariums on an envelope with my rent check. Yes. I doodle on my rent check envelope. My landlord loves it btw….

And how easy was that?! Creating this, was not only less than $5, but also took 5mins to do as well! Creating personalized memo boards create a visual dashboard in your home, dorm room, apartment, or even office.  With a few affordable items, you too can create something just as easy and simply delightful as well!

Be sure to stay tuned for my MINI DIY Succulent Wreath tutorial and a few tid bit ideas on bullet journalling soon!

Have a great weekend!

Officespace In My Purse

Happy Sunday fellow readers! It’s been awhile since I’ve been on blogging, but it’s always been on my mind! So much has been going on, with the school year, the kids, and also working part time at two jobs! YES TWO!! This mama is back in the game! As some of you know, I’m an Instructional Assistant to a Kindergarten class here in Sacramento! I’m in the same Unified School District with my own children, which is great because, we their off, I’m off! Our vacations are totally in-sync!!

As for my newest job, I work for one of the general hospitals here in Sacramento as an Administrative Assistant!! If you’ve never had a position within the healthcare world, boy oh boy, their interview process wasn’t that rigorous as I thought it would be, but it was the job steps in getting cleared through Human Resources, and the hospital. Very very step heavy, and something I’ve gone through. Anyhow, you’re girl is back into the work world doing two things that make me happy, provide for my family, as well, as keep me in check in life, routine and schedule.

Speaking of schedules, now having 2 jobs now has be driving to and from places like a mad woman. Gym in the early AM, dropping off the kids to school, going to job 1, fitting in groceries, getting my second work-out in, prepping dinner, bringing the children to karate, then going to my second job…Everything has me working from my car. And with that, I need a journal, and a few basic office supplies always on hand.
Here’s a post on the basic office supplies for home that I keep handy as this mother works 2 jobs, and balances out life as a wife, mother, and employee. Daiso EDITION!!

“The Japanese dollar store,” is known for their cute, “kawaii” designs that make everything in their retailer different from the normal dollar general retailer. From stationary, health & beauty, Japanese products, to kitchen & dining. Enter at your own risk, as Daiso may surprise you!! I’ve been able to avoid Target for the longest time because I’ve shifted my mind-set to Daiso everything. #DaisoHack #AvoidingTarget

From the cutest stationary sets, of normal standard sized envelopes, to the cutest, tiny-itty,-bitty panda printed envelopes you can find!!! So kawaii ya’ll!!!!

High quality pencils, pens, calligraphy pens, markers, colored pencils, to journals, planners, wallets, and office supplies. Majority of things costing $1.50!!! I also scored this cute pencil zipper case ($1.50!) It fits perfectly in my purse which holds my laptop, along with files for work, and other planners I normally hold.

I’m seriously a walking-wanna-be-kindergarten teacher, with office flare. Ok, ok..That was my attempt to be a little funny. But girl, look at that white, and black graph-print pencil case! Does it scream Etsy/UrbanOutfitters inspired?! You would have never known it was from Daiso, it I didn’t mention it! I’m planning to purchase a whole bunch, just cause it’s $1.50!!! HELLO, I see make-up bag, bags to hold my ear-buds, and other cords, and also tampons! YUP. A little TMI, but shoot! For reals ladies!!!

Being a busy working mom on the go, phone-calls, appointments, meetings, all come up to the surface when in my car. So having my little travel friendly office supplies on me in my purse, comes definietly handy, as I can simply, pull over, or while I’m wait

100 Yen Japanese Buys

Earlier this week I visited San Francisco’s Japantown with my family who came to visit from Fresno. Japantown is a neighborhood in the Western Addition district of San Francisco, and is about six square city blocks. It’s a great place to shop, enjoy small boutique shops, small eateries, and just indulge in Japanese culture. Since we came on a weekday, there wasn’t as many tourists as there would be on a weekend. And trust me, this place could be like Disneyland, with all the foot traffic they can get.

We first visited our favorite Japanese store Daiso. Being the from Bay Area, this is a very popular Japanese Dollar Store, also called 100-yen store. I was laughing at my mom and Aunt because, my parents have a huge Daiso just a few minutes away from their house. But their justification was that the SF location was better. Of course, I couldn’t protest against that.

Like always, in every  department store I find myself in the stationary/office accessories aisle. I’m a huge collector of note pads, journals, pencils, colored pens, and anything you could contain and organized those tools in. I’m such a huge impulse buyer on containers, or zip up pencil bags – its pretty ridiculous. If you’re familiar with Daiso, you might already know that they have an extensive selection on stationary articles; and not only that, in Daiso everything is $1.50!!! So I’m definitely in stationary heaven.

Daiso Haul

Daiso has every kind of supplies. I love it. I could find almost everything I use, I can buy at Daiso. If you are a huge fan of the DollarTree or 99Cents Store, you’re going to love Daiso. Not only that, they carry many items from home kitchen tools, car supplies, garden tools, to gift wrap boxes, to false lashes!! So if that sounds amazing it is!!! I never ever walk into a CVS or Wallgreens ever, because of the crazy variety that Daiso offers. It’s definitely you’re convenient dollar store!

Pens

I said, I’m a huge fan of stationary office supplies. I seriously geek off on this type of stuff. Especially if its dirt cheap!

Wet QTips

Wet Cotton Bud Q-Tips

One of my favorite items I always get from Daiso, are these wet cotton bed q-tips. They are individual packed cotton q-tips, that are wet. I find these wet cotton buds really useful when I travel and also at the gym as I’m doing my make up. They help me clean up my cat-eye eye liner look as I do my make-up every morning. Seriously, so helpful.  It beats taking my dry regular qtip and walking from the make-up vanity to the restroom sink.Musubi Maker

Musubi Maker

My last and final awesome buy I purchased from Daiso, is the fabulous Musubi Maker. If you’re accustomed to Hawaiian BBQ, this popular snack and lunch food in Hawaii composed of a slice of grilled Spam on top of a block of rice, wrapped together with nori dried seaweed in the tradition of Japanese omusubi.

I’ve purchased a musubi maker before from Japantown, but only preps one serving. This musubi maker can create two!!! This musubi maker helps achieve maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort!! Seriously folks, finding this musubi maker is gold in my eyes. I’ve been struggling with finding the perfect heavy snack to provide for the boys during the baseball practice hour. This mold will help me solve that problem. Stay tuned for me spam musubi tutorial within the next week or two!

So that’s it! My Daiso haul. I typically go to Daiso a few times a month, but always for the same things. Re-stocking in false lashes, getting a few Asian snacks for the boys, or when I have the itch for some new office supplies. What are your favorite items to buy at Daiso? Let me know!!
