Marimekko Autumn Nails

The first day of fall is right around the corner (Sept 23rd!) Try adding in a touch of autumn to your nails too! Usually it’s common for me to get a design on all or at least on each of the ring fingers. This fall I got my nails done with a deep burgundy red, and a autumn inspired floral print on each ring finger. As usual I get inspired through Pinterest, after searching up ‘Fall Nails.’

Here’s the PIN that I found, and requested for…

The original post was from a Japanese blogger named Rei Handa. You can check out her New Nail blog post HERE.

Her inspired nails were initially inspired by the iconic Marimekko pattern.

Unfold Marimekko

Marimekko is a Finnish company, and is a play on words, on ‘Mari’ an anagram of the first name of the company’s founder, Armi Ratia, while ‘mekko’ means ‘dress’ in Finnish. Particularly noted for brightly colored printed fabrics and simple styles, used both in women’s garments and in home furnishings. The two designers in particular, Vuokko Nurmesniemi with bold stripes, and Maija Isola with large simple flowered prints, created hundreds of distinctive patterns and helped to make Marimekko a household name across the world. Overlooking the designs online, it looks like a very high-end IKEA. WHICH is why it looked oh so familiar!! Marimekko provides covers from Bemz, the lovely Swedish folks who produce stylish slipcovers for IKEA‘s sofas and armchairs!!

Here’s my complete nail interoperation that my nail technician was able to do. I requested forest green to replace the black, and stuck with the original concept of flowers and color pallet from Rei Handa’s nail photo.

Very kawaii I might say!!!

Kawaii (かわいい?, [kaw͍aiꜜi], “lovable”, “cute”, or “adorable”) is the quality of cuteness in the context of Japanese culture.

Mom Provocalips

As a mom make-up tends to be the last on my priority list. Before, you’d find me going nut’s at a MAC counter. Now it has been the last place where I ever want to be. Drug-store make-up have been my options. Where money is now prioritized to household issues, and my children. I’d rather buy a new cooking pot, then the latest bronzer sold at department stores.. My make-up bag is all YouTube drug-store influenced.

My latest purchase: The Kiss-Proof color, poppin’ pigment Rimmel London Provocalips.

16Hour Kiss Proof Lip Colour

Color-sealing coat on one end, the kiss proof color on the other. You can get the look that won’t budge in two simple swipes.

Mom Make-Up

I’m a true sucker to YouTube make-up reviews. The price is right, and drug-store options are it for me!! I’ll take my favorite beauty guru’s word for it, as they experiment, and make their first impression. From there I’ll make the call, and for this product — I totally went for it! I purchased a few of these Rimmel London Provocalips at my local Ulta and CVS (CVS, was sold out of the color I wanted!)  After a couple day’s alternating between two colors, I’m quite impressed.

Simple, easy, swipe on, leave on, light weight, a tad sticky/tacky. I’ll deal with it. It’s $7 bucks, but don’t forget to use your coupons!

I purchased 2 colors from my local UltaUlta is currently having their buy 1, get one 50% off deal, so $9 for a pair and after a coupon!

The colors I purchased, and currently loving are:

Kiss Fatal & Make Your Move.

For someone who believes on putting on your make-up at home, and leaving out the door, this product is something that stays put through a full day of eating, drinking and life in general. The staying power is amazing. It is a bit drying but I don’t like gloss so it’s perfect for me!

The Wonderful Pros:

Doesn’t Flake

Easy To Use

Long lasting

Smooth application

BEST USES: Daily use, on-the-go, weekly use

Mommies, I wouldn’t be blogging about this product if I didn’t like it. Seriously, a pretty cool product for the on-the-go mom!!
