Getting Ready for Summer

March is here, and this mom is already thinking about my game plan on how I’m going to keep my boys busy during summer vacation. I have exactly 2.5 months to strategically map out all sorts of entertainment for my boys. Currently, the boys are 7 & 10. They love video games, watching TV, NERF guns, Rubix Cube, puzzles, Jenga, listening to music (my 10 year old, listens to music while playing Roblox), and also did I say video games?????

As a working mom, I can’t ninja plan their entire day while they are at home, and I’m in the office. Luckily, my husband working remotely from home, but basically that’s another boy in the house playing video games with them. At this point, I have to give in, and cater to their likes. My kids are beyond the point of Pinterest crafts with mommy. They are boys. So what do I have in stored for them???

Toys!! Toys of their interest from GoGiftPRO!!!!

Obviously, I cannot buy my children every toy off the shelf at Toys R Us, however… I can buy a decent amount of toys from GoGiftPRO!! They have everything from NERF Gun Refill darts, Creative Ball Puzzles, Exploding Kitten (What?! Yes!) Boys love this stuff! These little knick knacks will keep the boys engaged playing with these fun products!

I’ve already secretly purchased a few ready for my son’s 11th Birthday in June!! This site had endless amounts of fun toys!!! Some of my favorite products (which can also be found at Target, but CHEAPER –Yes mama, c h e a p e r than Target!) is:

  • Prank Cockroach/Spider
  • Flying Fidget Spinner
  • UNO
  • Mini Wooden Bowling
  • Guardians Of The Galaxy: Groot Action Figure
  • Wireless Smart Robot Dog
  • Hatchimals
  • Air Swimming Toy Remote Shark

You’re probably wondering, gosh, that’s so pricey! Even if it were purchased at WalMart these items together would be a few hundred dollars. Well….Let me tell you, from a mama on budget to another mama on a budget, these items cost from $0.30 to $25.00!!!!!! Yes!!!!

I think I’ve done enough hyping up about this. Please check out their site!!! GoGiftPRO!!!

Mom Love Gift Basket

With the theme of love and appreciation for the month of February and Valentine’s Day, I’ve been deeply touched by a certain someone who’s been helping me out the past month and a half. We’ve all heard the saying “It takes a village to raise our children,” and from where I am in life right now, and who I allow and attract around myself, the help and assistance from my neighbor is undoubtedly, one of the greatest appreciations I have right now.

Starting the new year, I had started a new full time job, leaving my two (yes two) part-time jobs. Landing this new job in a new industry was one of the greatest blessings, as I’ve been screaming out to the universe that I’m ready for something different and challenging. Once, I started my new job the first week January, new routines had to be set, as my husband had to travel for work, leaving us scrambling around figuring out school morning drop off’s.

Having loving neighbors within out cozy cul-de-sac, I was able to shoot out text to my neighbor asking if she could help out for a few days while my husband was out of town, and while I was at work. With no hesitation, she was totally fine with the task.

“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

This past Valentine’s I just had to give my neighbor a token of my appreciation for the help he’s given me the past month. Other than, a typical gift card, I had decided to give a gift basket of little tangible items that she may find helpful. In this post, I’ll share an easy gift basket made from items all purchased from WalMart.

Walking into Walmart, I had one thing in mind – and that was having a basket, and adding a couple things, I myself found helpful for the mom on-the-go.

Here’s what I found:

Above, are the items I purchased all at Walmart. Links provided for a few of the items. But I eventually added a some protein bars. I thought it was nice to add a little more  treats for the mom on-the-go, and it also paired nicely with the mini water bottle. It also tied in well with the color scheme that I ended up going with.

Not Pictured:

Scent Charm & Scent Charm Plug In, (Spent: $5)
Now, obviously this doesn’t really say “mom on-the-go,” but I’m pretty sure a mother who lives with her husband and middle-school aged son, would definietly appreciate a fresh scent within the main living space of her home.

Note Books, (Spent: $2)
Ladies, we all can admit we do love “lists.” Jotting down grocery items, to little reminders to pick-up our kids at this certain time. Having a thin notebook or two lying around in your purse or in your car is always helpful.

Faded Glory Teal Women’s Baseball Cap, (Clearance Find $2)
Going to one place to another, mainly being in your car, for school drop offs, baseball practices, and spin class, having a easy going relaxed fit baseball cap helps defuse the sun away from her face, and also controls that messy “I had no time,” mom hair.

The Asobu Skinny 8oz. Stainless Steel Insulated Water Bottle “Skinny Mini Flask”, (Spent $7)
I’m a sucker for any insulated reusable water bottles. I’m a lover of S’well and Hydro Flask. Literally, I have more water reusable  water bottles than I do bras. I know. But it’s true. Stay hydrated while you are out of the house is key. This mini skinny 8oz water bottle is so tiny, it fits perfectly in your your purse. Hydrate. Or you know….Add water beverage as you please. I won’t judge. Live your best life!

Pioneer Woman “Clean & Dry” Dishwasher Magnet, $3

Now, this was my best find of the day while at Walmart! If you’ve been a ready for quite some time, I do love my some Pioneer Women. Her collection at Walmart is the perfect combo of farmhouse, and spring. Finding this Dishwasher magnet was a perfect addition to add to the gift basket. Something to add to your home, and definietly communicates what needs to be handled in the kitchen. I bought one for our kitchen, and my son loves it!!

Bringing it all together was second most fun part of this after going shopping for the items. I simply took some twine, and also some lightweight butcher paper (Also purchased at WalMart!) It’s all in the little details when presenting the gift basket.

I also added in a small succulent, and you guessed it, purchased at WalMart in the garden section for $2!  I styled the times with the tallest items in the back, bringing the smallest towards the front. Add in more personal items, such as a wooden letter charm with the gift receivers initial.

From one neighbor to another. She helps me when my husband is out of town, and knowing I leave to work early. She drops my boys off to school, and offers for drives back home. Love your neighbors.

DIY Berry Basket Gift

Shortly after my birthday, the school year ends along with little league season. After 20+ games, and practices, the teams usually have their end of season party. During this time the players receive their awards, and coaches and team parents say their thank you’s to everyone who were involved. This season, I was able to hit it off with my older son’s team mom Staci. A Hawaii native, and currently a stay-at-home mom just like me, with two boys, we were able to totally hit if off from the start!

It’s was such a pleasure to tag-team with her as she and I did the creative aspect for our little league team. From setting up really early for Spirit day, making Easter treats, and little goody bags for the players, I love giving and creating cutesy quaint gifts for the players to enjoy! Really, it was a joy to make them, and also a joy to know that you all loved them!

She was such an awesome team mom, I just want to thank her for an awesome season! Seriously, she was ne of the best, most organized Team Mom’s e v e r. Especially handing it all with her 2 year old at your hip (At every game, and every practice!) Her structured order, systemized ways, were obviously effective and well received with the players, coaches, as well the parents. She definitely make it look like nothing! Purely effortless!! As a mom, she’s inspired me to become more involved in my children’s extra curricular activities! I hope in the near future I can step out of my comfort zone to become a team mom just like her!!!

Directions For Prepping Your Berry Basket:

1.) Fill your berry basket with the decorative shred. (I personally love paper shred. It’s the perfect filler for any gift basket, and is every easy to style with.)

2.) Place your gift items inside, with larger (taller) items set in the back. Style from back to front.

Example: I placed the tissue and KIND bar towards the back, and placed my anti-bacterial, lip balm, and smaller gifts towards the front.

3.) With your Chalkboard garden sign, write the names of the special people you will be presenting these gifts to.

There were multiple moms that helped contribute to the baseball season for my son’s Minor B team. From score keeper, dugout mom, and team mom, all these ladies do it for their children. They not only care for their own children, but for the rest of the boys on the team.

ChalkSign

So, I had these chalk pens for awhile, which I purchased for a wedding last March. They were a set of 4, with white, pink, orange, and purple. It was such a coincidence that those colors besides the white perfectly tied in with the berry basket gift idea. Don’t you love happy little accidents?!?! (It’s like finding cash in your clothes!! A total art supply SCORE!)

Now, I’m a perfectionist. And I am no professional wedding calligrapher, but I did attend art school for a bit and know my way around photoshop and have many resources for many, many, many fonts.  So, writing the font for the chalksign was quite easy for me to duplicate. Nowadays, I’ve seen many creatives going into the calligraphy category of the wedding and event styling industry. Pretty cool. But definitely not for me. I’ve done multiple chalkboard signs for weddings, and events, but I’d never consider doing invites. Hell no. I have better things to do…And I’m not looking to get carpal tunnel, or tendonitis in my wrist. HA!

Have you worked with berry baskets before? I’ve seen them so many times, but never really thought of styling with them, or had the need. Using them as team mom gifts, was the perfect opportunity for me to used them! Now, I might just buy me a porcelain berry basket!!! (I smell a impulse buy coming up!!)
