I was going through my storage bins in my garage, putting Halloween decor away from my living room, when I realized many of the item’s purchased were from all budget friendly stores. My decorative pieces all came from a Thrift store, as all my anchored/staple living room pieces were LITERALLY all coming from a budget friendly source. I was still able to get modern living room furniture, even with having a small budget, to basically no budget at all, styling with whatever you have or even a few bucks, you can definitely achieve a simplistic living room chic look.
Before the holidays kick in and your newsfeed is cluttered with Thanksgiving anything, and Pinterest inspiration, I thought this would be a great opportunity, to plug in this post of the “transitional” time in decorating. Setting back to your living room, before the next seasonal change. Many of us, may be putting away all our spiderwebs, candlesticks, and skulls, but a few of us, may still be at a clean slate of no sign of holiday decorating. I get it, holiday decorating can get expensive. So why bother buying it, when you haven’t established your unique style to your living room just yet? Here’s my few tips on decorating your living room on a slim budget!
Here is small list of my budget friendly go-to’s for living room decorating! I cannot stress enough how much good stuff I find, every time I make my visit to these oh so favorite spots of mine.
We all love Target. Only thing is, everyone loves Target, so if you continue purchasing e v e r y t h i n g there, the possibility of someone else (a friend, neighbor, co-working, or even family member will have it too!) Who wants that?! Be different, have your own unique sense of style. Check out their Dollar Spot, and aisle end caps of CLEARANCE items. Also, know your Target’s Markdown Schedule!!Usually….its:Thursday – Housewares & Decor
The prices at WalMart cannot be beaten for brand new kitchenware items. Particular celebrity brands love teaming up with big chain department stores especially in the houseware department –so keep a look out for that!
Many great decorative pieces can be found at Ross, also great quality bedding can be found. Don’t get flustered if the mess is too much. Remember it’s all about the hunt. Ross isn’t suppose to be a Nordstrom! That’s why it’s cheap and affordable!
- Local Furniture Shops
See this Craigslist ad?! It’s actually my sofa!!! Checking out local furniture shops in your area gives you an opportunity to support local family owned businesses, vs the big time home stores.
Craigslist is my NUMBER ONE source of anything shopping for the home or kitchen, or basically anything DIY, or ready to flip. It’s all about the key words!! Search out of the box key words, or outside sources that may be relatable to what you want.
“CB2, Restoration Hardware, West Elm, Etsy, UrbanOutfitters, World Market, Rustic….”
This coffee table was purchased from Craigslist for only $25! After careful searching on the site, I was able to find a coffee table that actually ties in with my new sofa!
I found a good looking rug but unfortunately it was cotton and there are multiple reasons why wool is best. Last but not least the one store that I once would visit 2-3 times year, now I’ve visited 2-3 times a month is……
I live very very close to an IKEA, so having that near to me is very refreshing. I can come in very casually looking for inspiration for my home. I check in my boys at the Ikea Playplace, and that gives mommy a solid 1 hour of browsing around child FREE. ***Be sure to check out their frames, plants, and kitchenware for affordable prices that beat other retailers. Those are the hot spots for me.
- It may also be worth looking for furniture that has more than one purpose. For example, the iBeani beanbag stands are primary used for supporting iPads or tablets. However, if you feel tired, you could use it as a pillow if you really wanted to. Having items that have multi purposes allow you to save space in your rooms, whilst also saving money because you don’t have to pay for the two items that one item could replicate.
BUT Tiffany, what about…
Garage Sales, Flea Markets, Thrift Shops

In the mean time, follow me on IG so you can see what’s happening now!!
I usually do find myself at the thrift shop once or twice a week!
ALSO!! Be sure to check out what I’ve found in recently from Craigslist and other fabulously frugal places!!
! Cough cough….Target!
